I have been trying to setup vCOps Manager but I cannot get past the change password screen on the initial admin setup.
I used the vCenter wizard to download the OVF file (8.5.2.0) and auto-install the VMs. When I go to the webpage for the first time and step through the installation it will not accept my password changes.
Each time I try it I get an 'Invalid current password. Please try again.' error for the root password, and usually for the admin as well, though I occasionally get an error like "Cannot make changes".
I have deleted and reinstalled this pack twice already now. I can get into the UX VM and reset the password attempts, change both passwords, so I know they are the correct passwords.
Any help would be appreciated.

you're correct. I want to use vsphere replication NOT array-based replication and of course I'm using vsphere replication 5.8. but there is something that is ambiguous for me. you said :

you mean that in SRM 5.8 , there is mandatory to have array-based replication? is this impossible to use vsphere replication alone ?

I was wondering when you are programmatically adding a VApp from the cloud to a Catalog, if it's possible to know when it is done? Sometime the code down below:
CatalogItemType catalogItemType = parameterFactory.getCatalogItemType();
catalogItemType.setName(vAppTemplateName);
catalogItemType.setEntity(vAppTemplate.getReference());
CatalogItem returnedCatalogItem = catalog.addCatalogItem(catalogItemType);
Finishes but the catalog is till capturing that VApp. Is there a way to tell when it's done through waitForTasks() or something else? I've tried getting the tasks off of the VApp but there aren't any. We need to know when it's done so it can be deleted safely from the cloud.
I have provided all the rights to the file but still I am getting the same error

So - I'm using PowerCLI 5.8 release 1, and I'm writing a simple script - but not getting the correct feedback...
a single vCenter (5.5 appliance, build 1750787), multiple Hosts, but I've cleaved off 2 hosts for a proof-of-concept/test cluster (the cluster is named POC).

The issue I keep running into is that while line-1 runs perfectly, showing me the 2 hosts in the POC cluster, However line-2 shows me all vmnic1's from ALL hosts connected to the vCenter. I know I'm missing something - probably simple. I can't find anything in the syntax. the only thing I can think of would be the $esx is wrong. I've tried $VMHost, and a few others, but all with the same result. what am I missing? (aside from a few marbles).
If you are using vCO to make the REST call to another vCO server, then of course - simply write a workflow that wraps the REST operation call, then adjust your output string as desired based on the actual return of the REST call and set that value as a workflow output.

When session per user is configured plugin will use the credentials of logged in user in vCO.
One possible reason for failure in this case can be missing domain. Try providing default domain when configuring the AD pluign (not sure about the syntax (@somedomain.com or directly domain.com).
Another one is if vCO server itself is running in SSO mode. In such case the credentials can not be used to authenticate against microsoft AD server and user per session can not be used.

We are trying to do VM deploy automation with PowerCLI.
There is already a template created which have two hard disks in side, and each hard disk belong to difference datastore,
The OS in the template is Windows server 2008 R2, and already installed VMware Tools and other software into the second driver(Other than C: driver)
We can successfully deploy a new VM with this template manually with vSphere client.
But when we try to do the deployment with PowerCLI, we can not find any similar sample scripts in the reference document,
and we also googled this question, still no similar question been found.
Is it possible with PowerCLI? If it is possible could you give me some hints or sample script, thank you!

Dear Team,
I have rec'd one request from customer he request us to share the total disk space used by a VM. I don;t have credentials to check to check total used space. Is there any way without login I can check total disk space used by VM.
Note: we have provisioned a VM with thin disk.

Hi all,
we were updating our environment from 5.0 to 5.5. Today we found some strange values in the storage summary (in both - vCenter client and Webclient).
Till now, since not using ThinProvisioning, the "Provisioned Space" and the "Used Space" were the same.
But now we have some VMs which have different values for used and provisioned. It seems that the different size corresponds with the memory size of the vm, which could be possible if you reserve the memory. But we do not reserve memory either.
And therefor the "free Space" value is not correct anymore.
We are nearly sure, that this behaviour came with the update to 5.5, as we were always counting on the "free space" till now.
I took some screenshots that may help understanding my problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I mean if I have some VM configured for VSGA and just for some time they need a VDGA and at the end of the graphic intensive job they need to switch back to VSGA is it possible?
